RESOLUTION
The Government of India recognizing the importance of developing drugs to fight neglected diseases like Tuberculosis, Malaria, Kala-Azar, Filariasis etc. prevalent among poorer sections of society lacking purchasing power have decided to enlarge the scope of the existing Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Research Programme (DPRP) of Department of Science and Technology by way of extending grants-in-aid to Indian pharmaceuticals industry including new and small companies for R&D projects involving clinical trials - Phase-I, II and III to ensure providing medicines to them at an affordable price. An amount of Rs. 45.0 crores has been assigned during the 11th Five Year Plan to help pharma industry for this purpose under DPRP. This amount can be enlarged as the programme develops further.

Ordered also that the Resolution be published in the Gazette for India for general information.
