AGRICULTURE & FISHERIES

To make our economy self-sufficient in agri-produce and improve its share in the state's GDP, it is necessary to give the much required impetus and support to farmers through subsidies and technology. The GCCI Agriculture Committee had organized one successful seminar on chili cultivation that has since seen reverse export of Green chilies from Goa to other states. The recent years have seen a reversal of the decline in Goa's agricultural production and this can be expedited by a concerted effort to change the land tenure rules and permit contract farming on short and medium term lease without loss of ownership over the fields.
