GCCI BULLETIN OCTOBER 2021

30TH NOVEMBER 2021

Dear Members,

The world is changing and we need to adapt to the growing need to survive in the changing world.

With the need to change, comes an urge to lead a more sustainable lifestyle. The Women’s Wing Committee has already taken up the initiative to educate the masses on building goals for sustainable development in the State of Goa. Through the Environment, Social and Governance Weekathon initiative a weeklong awareness on sustainable living among the young and the old was done.

To encourage young minds the Chamber in association with RBI Goa organized a Field Level Financial Literacy Camp to spread awareness on MSME for budding MSME Entrepreneurs and college students. The program aimed to inform the participants of the role RBI plays in supporting MSME units, flagships Schemes from RBI for MSMEs, and encouraged students to start their entrepreneurial journey.

To help Women Entrepreneurs start their entrepreneurial journey the Women’s Wing organized two programs one for Women Entrepreneurs across the country by Connex Door in association with GCCI Women’s Wing and Fire. The webinar aimed to give the participants detailed knowledge about the Fintech sector and how it will benefit their business. The other program was the second program in the series of Rural Entrepreneurship Programs to be held all over Goa for Self Help Groups & Small Women Entrepreneurs to educate self-help group members on the nuances of business.

Since the community is moving towards a more sustainable development approach. We also need to understand and learn about digital assets and to provide that opportunity to its members and other stakeholders the Chamber’s Taxation Committee organized a webinar on decrypting digital assets. The keynote speaker was Mr. Edul Patel Co-Founder & CEO of Mudrex a leading crypto asset management platform. Mr. Patel touched upon some basics of Cryptocurrency & based his presentation on debunking some of the myths surrounding this Investment sector, especially in the young generation.

The GCCI team also took the initiative and made a representation to the Hon’ble Transport Minister Mr. Mauvin Godinho requesting exemption of Rural Improvement & Welfare Cess 2000 on cargo handled in Goan Inland waterways, currently being charged on minerals imported & transported in Goa except for Iron Ore & Coal.

Lastly, Norwegian Consul General Mr. Arne Jan Flolo visited Goa. He hosted a networking dinner at Hotel Vivanta Goa, Panaji. The Norwegian Consul General used this opportunity to interact and understand the business climate in Goa and opportunities for foreign companies in the state. The team discussed business opportunities in potential sectors like Ship Building, Aquaculture, Waste Management, and Renewable energy.

I take this opportunity to wish you all a Very Happy and Prosperous Diwali.

“May the light of this festival dispel all darkness, enlighten your soul, illuminate your path and bless you in every ray, every way, every day”

Warm regards,

Ralph de Sousa
