Dear Members,

As we near the end of another year, we measure our good and bad. We fix our minds to get rid of our old bad habits and focus on trying to inculcate good habits and resolutions from the beginning of the new year, but we forget that we are only human, and old habits die harder. Change happens only if we focus our minds on the improvement, we want to see in us.

The Chamber in association with the NRB Group of Companies organized a special felicitation program for the Goa Yogasana Team at Surendrababu Timblo Convention Hall. The Team Goa participated at the end National Yogasana Championship held at Bhuvaneshwar, Odisha, and won 1 silver, 2 Bronze medals, and overall were and Runners up in the championship. Mr. Shripad Naik — Chief Guest for the event in his speech motivated people to practice Yogasana and mentioned how critical it has become to the stressful life of this millennium. He also mentioned that COVID has alerted countries to practice and innovate various means to develop a better healthcare system and asserted that performing Yoga is another best practice to increase immunity and fight various diseases.

The 28th meeting of the Investment Promotion Board – IPB was held at the Secretariat, Porvorim, and was chaired by the Chief Minister – Dr. Pramod Sawant. Out of the total six proposals, the Goa Investment Promotion and Facilitation Board (IPB) approved four proposals with a total investment of Rs 104.9 crore and projected employment for 38o people. The Chief Minister also unveiled the new online web application of IPB in the presence of the Chairman of GIDC. The new methodology utilizes a point system to evaluate and score project proposals received against the advertised land bank of IPB, a merit list will be prepared for each advertised plot, and the project scoring the highest points will be offered the said plot.

The GCCI — Logistics, Agriculture & Food Processing, Basic Infrastructure, and Retail Committees visited the Mopa Airport site. The GCCI delegation was given a detailed presentation on the cargo handling facilities that will be provided to the stakeholders once the airport commences. The delegation gave the team their suggestions and discussed common issues.

The GCCI Taxation Committee has made representations on behalf of all stakeholders requesting extension and relaxation of additional fee in the filing of e-forms for the financial year ended on 31.03.2021 and also for extension of date for filing of Form GSTR9, GSTR 9A & GSTR 9C to 3ltt March 2022. The committee has also made a representation on Issues faced by trade concerning the issuance of Form DRC 07 and also provided suggestions.

The logistics Committee has also made a representation to Hon’ble Union Minister of Port, Shipping, and Waterways, Govt of India on the various logistics-related pain point areas in the State of Goa.

The Chamber has also written to The Hon. Minister for Tourism, Culture, and Development of North Eastern Region of India, Govt of India and also to Hon’ble Union Minister of Commerce & Industry requesting their support on and help in reviving the Goan industry with regards to the Tourism, Logistics and Mining Sectors.
