A very happy and prosperous new year to all the readers, we begin each year with great zeal and enthusiasm. The Chamber started its new year with the Health and Wellness Committee organizing two webinars on how to stay safe in the current wave of the COVID-19 pandemic and another one on Fighting Covid 19″ Omicron and appropriate behavior.

The Women’s Wing in association with the National Board for Quality Promotion – Quality Council of India conducted an online awareness workshop on ‘Applying Quality Tools/Techniques and Technology for Improving Business Performance. The committee also organized another webinar in association with IEDA (India Economic Development Association) and WICCI –National Food & Nutrition Council and G 100- Food Innovation Wing on Food First Agripreneurship – A Tool to empower Women.

The Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission held a virtual public hearing on the Tariff Petition, Business Plan for the next three years’ Aggregate Revenue Requirement (ARR). GCCI had already submitted suggestions on the petition and took up various points during the live hearing. Aggregate Transmission & Commercial losses, Tariff on Cold storage, Reduction in penalties on delayed payment, SAP implementation in customer relations, Plant maintenance, and Electricity duty were some of the points deliberated.

A meeting with the Principal Secretary- Finance was organized where issues related to disbursement of the OTS scheme through a few Nationalized and Cooperative Banks which were pending were discussed.
Lastly, the GCCI Team welcomed the newly appointed Managing Director of GIDC Ms. Vandana Rao on her appointment by paying a visit to her office and also kept her informed about some constantly highlighted grievances from the industry stakeholders from various forums. The GCCI Team also paid a farewell visit to The Chief Secretary of Goa Mr. Parimal Rai, IAS who retired in January after a long & meritorious career.
