GCCI BULLETIN AUGUST 2025

August 2025

Dear members,

In the month of August, GCCI events addressed some of the most pressing issues facing our businesses and industry and provided valuable platforms for knowledge-sharing and collaboration.

We began with a Seminar on ‘Burning Issues in GST’, which brought together business owners, tax professionals, and industry experts to discuss the complexities of the GST framework. With participation from distinguished speakers like CA Shivani Shah Agarwalla and CA Rohit Prasad, the session provided much-needed clarity on GST challenges, particularly for MSMEs. This event highlighted our ongoing efforts to offer practical solutions to our members and ensure smoother tax processes for Goa’s business community.

On the same day, the ‘LeadHERShip’ program, organized by the GCCI Women’s Wing, empowered women entrepreneurs by offering guidance on business start-ups, mentorship, and career growth. The event featured expert sessions on entrepreneurship, business strategies, and career development, with a focus on creating opportunities for women to lead and excel. This program highlights GCCI’s commitment to building an inclusive and diverse business ecosystem in Goa.

Another key event was the Reimagining Goa @ 2037 roundtable, where we explored the future of tourism and mobility in Goa, focusing on sustainability and digital integration. With inputs from the Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and the Hon’ble Transport Minister Mr. Mauvin Godinho, the panellists discussed the importance of aligning tourism with Goa’s broader economic objectives, especially through digital solutions and collaborative efforts. The discussion emphasized that tourism is not just a pillar of our economy, but a catalyst for broader growth when linked with logistics, creative industries, and start-ups.

We also hosted a Workshop on Renewable Energy Storage, which brought together industry experts to discuss innovative storage solutions for renewable energy. This event highlighted the need for Goa to reduce its dependency on imported power, which impacts both the environment and business costs. As a Chamber, we remain committed to advocating for sustainable energy practices that enhance Goa’s competitiveness in the global market.

Lastly, the “From Fitness to Finance” session, featuring CA Shivani Shah Agarwalla, inspired our members with her story of balancing a successful career in finance with her passion for fitness. The event demonstrated how discipline, resilience, and focus can lead to success in both personal and professional life. The conversation provided a refreshing perspective on how wellness and career growth can complement each other, especially for women aiming to break barriers in traditionally male-dominated industries.

Each of these events exemplifies GCCI’s dedication to supporting our members with relevant knowledge, fostering collaboration, and driving Goa’s growth across various sectors. Moving forward, I encourage all of you to actively engage with the Chamber’s initiatives, share your insights, and work together to build a Goa that is innovative, inclusive, and future-ready.

Thank you,

Regards,

Pratima Dhond
